Weighted blankets are therapeutic blankets where pressure from the extra weight mimics a therapeutic technique called deep pressure stimulation or pressure therapy. This pressure relaxes the nervous system and models the experience of being held or hugged.
Pressure therapy from the weight may reduce symptoms of anxiety, relieve the perception of pain,
improve sleep quality, reduce insomnia and
relieve symptoms of depression. Studies with these results are conducted for a minimum of 4 weeks, and so you should try the weighted blanket for at least the same amount of time.
The general guideline is that a weighted blanket should be 5% to 10% of your body weight. You may not be used to having a heavier blanket on your body at first, and may need time to adjust. If in doubt, you should opt for the lower weight to start with.
48 x 72 inch
Cover: Bamboo silk
Filling: Polyester wadding and micro-glass beads
The blanket can be machine washed on gentle cycle using cold or warm water and mild detergent but no softener and no bleach. Larger blankets should be washed in a front-loading machine or a machine without a centre agitator, as the agitator may damage the blanket.
You can machine dry your weighted blanket on gentle or delicate cycle and cool or warm heat. Do not iron. You may also line dry outside the in the sun (air dry).
For heavyweight blankets (over 12 pounds), dry -clean is recommended. A better option is to purchase a duvet cover for easier cleaning.
